Medication adherence,
verified.
MediCal is a connected medication dispenser that reminds patients when to take their medication — and uses a built-in precision scale to confirm they actually did. If a dose is missed, the people who care about them find out immediately.
Taking medication as prescribed is harder than it looks — and almost impossible to verify from the outside.
Missed, late, or incorrect doses are one of the most common and least visible failure points in healthcare. For family caregivers, the hard part usually isn't reminding a parent to take their pills — it's knowing, from a distance, whether they actually did.
Most tools stop at reminding. None of them confirm.
Pill organizers
Help with sorting, not adherence. A pillbox can't tell you whether Tuesday's compartment was emptied by the patient — or just knocked over.
Reminder apps
A notification is not a confirmation. Reminders assume the person sees them, understands them, and acts — and leave no record when they don't.
Automatic dispensers
Closer, but incomplete. Some devices confirm that a compartment opened. Very few confirm that anything was actually removed from it.
Not just a reminder. A verified record of what happened.
MediCal combines a connected dispenser, a precision weight sensor, and a discreet wristband into one system built around a single idea: don't just prompt the action — confirm it happened.
Prompt, without needing a phone
The dispenser and wristband prompt the patient at the right time — no app to open, no alarm to silence.
Confirm with a precision scale
An integrated weight sensor detects whether the compartment's contents were actually removed — not just that a door opened.
Notify the people who care
If intake wasn't detected within the expected window, family or caregivers are notified — so problems get caught the same day.
From scheduled dose to verified intake, in four steps.
One system, built in stages.
Every component is tagged by where it stands today — a working prototype, active development, or the longer-term integration roadmap.
Smart dispenser
Multi-compartment hardware that stores and releases medication on a defined schedule. Working prototype, self-built.
Precision weight sensor
Integrated into the dispenser tray. Detects removal of contents at compartment level — the core of the verification claim.
Vibration wristband
Discreet reminders on the wrist, independent of whether a phone is nearby or charged.
Companion app · iOS & Android
Schedule management, intake history, and live status for the patient and the family members they invite.
Remote monitoring & alerts
Automatic notifications to designated family members or caregivers when a dose is missed.
Care & pharmacy integration
A structured data feed for professional caregivers, pharmacies, and — longer term — health insurers.
The difference is verification.

Automatic dispensers vary widely — some higher-end systems can confirm that a compartment opened. Very few verify that its contents were actually removed. MediCal is designed around that specific gap.
An aging population, and a growing digital health market.
MediCal sits at the intersection of two structural trends: a growing share of the population that needs daily medication support, and a healthcare system shifting spend toward connected, preventive, data-driven care.
Market-research estimates vary by source and methodology. The figures below illustrate scale and direction, not a demand forecast for MediCal specifically.
Hardware gets us in the door. Software is the relationship.
A one-time hardware purchase creates the entry point; the monthly subscription is where recurring revenue, ongoing family engagement, and long-term retention live.
- Automated medication dispensing
- Integrated precision weight sensor
- Vibration wristband included
- Basic app connectivity
- Detailed adherence statistics
- Extended history & reporting
- Multiple family members connected
- Priority support
Pricing reflects our current plan for initial pilots and early D2C sales. It is expected to evolve as we validate willingness-to-pay and move toward B2B2C channels.

This is a small early-stage survey, not a controlled study — we treat it as a signal that the problem is recognized, not proof of demand.

Domenico Crivello — Founder, MediCal
Domenico designs and builds both sides of MediCal himself: the dispenser electronics and weight-sensing hardware, and the firmware and app software that run on top of it. He's 17 — which mostly means he started early, not that he started small.
MediCal grew out of hands-on hardware development and hackathon work, and has since been recognized externally through the STARTUP TEENS program and the Young Founder Network.
